Professional madness in Swinoujscie

2012/05/15

This year’s FAMA is not only presentations of participants admitted into competition but also un-usual events i.e. exceptional concerts of renowned artists whose works are setting trends in Polish music. This year we have planned two events linked by their spiritus movens: MARCIN MASECKI – a pianist and a composer branded new spirit of Polish jazz, whose compositions stem from classical music.

On Wednesday, August 15th we invite you to a concert of the BOEING duet (Marcin Masecki – piano, Michał Górczyński – clarinet).  Mozart’s famous Clarinet concerto in A-major is the theme of the programme named with the composer’s very name. Dualism-flavoured, Boeing journeys through the score either drawing nearer the original masterpiece or diverging from it. Please accept our invitation to listen to a creative and unpredictable dialogue with the most renowned piece of the composer.

Jazz sextet PROFESJONALIZM will give a concert a day later i.e. on Thursday, August 16th. The band will present contents of their debut record “Chopin Chopin Chopin” (Lado, ABC, 2011). The composer Masecki made reference there to his childhood experiences when he would spend his time playing to the sound of pieces from musical education syllabus: traditional jazz, big bands of the 30’s and European classics. Profesjonalizm merges sounds and styles only to set them against one another. The audience becomes the arbiter.

‘Professionalism’ of the sextet stems from experience and artistry of musicians from independent stage of Warsaw. The musicians play, their eyes fixed on the score and the performance is conducted by Masecki. Their play is imaginative: elegant and witty. However, as the pieces flow one after another, madness begins to play the first fiddle only to take over the entire precision of  the composition. The concert is crowned with musical deconstruction, every now and then accompanied with commotion on stage – score soar over the stage and musicians abandon their instruments in panic.

Similarly to other events of the festival, entrance to this one also is FREE OF CHARGE!
